Maia Janowitz, M.Sc, is Research Associate in the team of Sociology of Technology and Innovation, Social Simulation, where she is - amongst other things - involved in the project AI-NAVI.
She, in addition to working in start-up, academic and corporate environments, spent more than 10 years working on public initiatives for New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, supporting the policy-makers and program administrators behind public services such as HIV/AIDS control and prevention, mental health, emergency management, tuberculosis control, lead poisoning prevention, rodent control, tobacco control, and other public programs. By analysing the requirements and managing the development of information technology tools, she participated in the creation of new public services and re-engineered program workflows to improve the administrative, technology and public health infrastructure of the City of New York.
Maia studied at Columbia University in New York and holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in History from McGill University.
