Maia Janowitz M.Sc.

Maia Janowitz spent more than 10 years working on public initiatives for New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, supporting the policy-makers and program administrators behind public services such as HIV/AIDS control and prevention, mental health, emergency management, tuberculosis control, lead poisoning prevention, rodent control, tobacco control, and other public health programs. By analyzing the requirements of and managing their information technology projects, she facilitated the creation of entirely new public services, resolved operational issues in legacy program workflows, and implemented administrative and infrastructure improvements.

Maia studied at Columbia University in New York and holds an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in History from McGill University. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies with the TISSS lab, with particular interest in applying evidence-based and complexity science methods to social services and policy.
